Tips to Enhance The Entrance to Your House

Next to the entire scope of the house, your front door and entrance is your guests’ first impression of your home. Here are some tips you can use to make your front door more inviting:

Enhance Your Walkway

The walkway up to your front door should be wide enough so two people can walk next to each other side-by-side. There should also be clear view to your front door, and nothing on the direct path that could cause any of your visitors to stumble. Also, there should be no overhanging tree branches or shrubbery extending into the path of the walkway.

You could even have shrubbery line the path of the walkway to guide your visitors to the front door. Also, a gravel walkway would be a great alternative to the paved walkway.

At night, you could line your walkway with solar-powered LED lights. You just stick them in the ground along the path, and they require no wiring. These lights are relatively inexpensive, with an eight pack of lights costing just under $60 online.

Making the Door Pop Out

The star of your entryway is your door, so making it stand out would not only increase the aesthetics, but possibly the value of your home.

The color of the door should contrast from the rest of the color of the exterior, as the entrance of the house should be easily noticeable. A great example of this is London’s row houses, which vary in color and have a high-gloss texture. Popular colors could be turquoise, canary yellow, bright red, or even lime green. The contrast range doesn’t have to be too far out there, like a pink door for a brown house. It could consist of a different shade of the color of the exterior of the house, such as an indigo door for a blue house.
